Why is coaching becoming more popular?

Coaching works. Clients often feel anxiety around the topic of retirement, when they come to coaching, and very quickly this is replaced with a sense of calm and appreciation for the rich opportunities this stage of life offers.

Doing things the way you always have, will create more of the exact same thing as you already have. Making changes is an incremental process. There are no quick fixes to having the life you really want, however coaching can assure that you achieve the most, with the least effort, in the least time.

What is its basic philosophy?

Retirement is a stage of life, not an age. The meaning of retirement needs to be PERSONALLY defined. One definition does not fill all! Planning is essential to a meaningful and fulfilling retirement - good things do not happen my chance!

Knowing where you are, is the first step. The next step is, determining your goals and dreams. Then designing a plan that makes it happen is the process that enables you to have an extraordinary retirement.

Finances are not the only factory that influences happy retirement.

Individuals can achieve their dreams more effectively when supported by an accountability partner. Most people know intuitively what they really want out of life, however, frequently they may become locked into habitual ways of sabotaging their progress.

Does the coach work on personal goals, or business career goals?

Coaches are holistic in their approach, recognizing what is happening in one aspect of your life is impacting other aspects of your life. When people live in integrity and with a values driven life they achieve more harmony because all aspects of your life are in harmony. Coaches are trained to work on personal and business/career goals.

Where does the coach focus with an average client?

The the RSP LOP are tools that help us (mutually) determine where the focus should be placed.

The client sets the agenda and determines the focus of each coaching session. The focus is on getting maximum effectiveness for the client. Coaches focus on supporting the client in getting maximum effectiveness.

Why does coaching work so well for the client?

Lasting change and growth occur as a result of the coaching relationship because the client is receiving constant feedback and is encouraged to stay focused on the clients agenda. The client becomes clearer about their own agenda as they discuss it with the coach. Many times clients know what it is they need to be doing, however the greatest results come from having someone that is keeping them accountable for their actions.

Is there some context in which coaching can be placed for me?

A Personal, Business or Transitional Coach is much like a sports coach.  The coach doesn't play the game. It is only the quarterback that can run the ball and score. The coach is on the sidelines providing support and enabling the quarterback to maximize his/her potential. So it is with personal/life/career or business coaching. A coach is an accountability partner that will help you recognize and achieve your personal potential.

What about people who are already doing great in their lives. Why would they want a coach?

Most people who are doing well in their lives have recognized that they have not achieved it in isolation. They are often the ones who most quickly understand the benefits of coaching. Coaching isn't about fixing you. Coaches recognize you have the resilience, resources, knowledge, abilities, strengths and values that will enable you to achieve what you really want out of life. Coaches and clients recognize that the most effective way to stay on track and access the right skills and resources at the right time comes from talking, reflecting, exploring, challenging, planning and consistently tweaking the process. Coaches can be an asset when venturing into new areas.

Can I hire a coach for just a short-term, special project?

Absolutely. Complete the RSP or LOP. This is the best investment you can make in yourself as you approach retirement or if you are already retired.

Short-term coaching maybe ideal if you are launching a new project, making a career transition or have a specific project you wish to complete in a set period of time. Often clients will continue working with a coach on other projects of return to coaching at a later date when they are looking to move to the next level.

How long is the usual starting commitment when working with a coach?

Change and results do not happen overnight. A minimum of 5 sessions with a Retirement Coach can make a significant difference. Most meaningful results take a three to six month commitment.  Most coaches let their clients stop immediately if coaching is not working for them right now. We do not require a contract, however if discounted rates are given for a longer-term commitment the balance due will be calculated at the regular rate for coaching services.

What does it Investment to hire a coach?

Less than you think. Interesting that most people spend more time planning a two week vacation than they spend planning the next 20 - 30 years of their life! The vacation soon becomes only a memory - much less spent on coaching can make a difference that effects every day for the next 20 - 20 - 30 years.

Most clients invest between $500 and $1,000 - in a lifetime, for coaching.

Visit Retirement Secrets, (Kristi Nielsen Retirement Coach), offers various coach packages, most of which are less than $120 per hour - with a minimum 5 session commitment the fees are less than $100 per hour.

Coaching is an investment in oneself. It typically Investments considerably less than it Investments to operate a vehicle. Coaching more often than not pays dividends in reduced stress, greater fulfillment and results. A client can expect to invest about $250 to $750 per month for three half-hour coaching sessions each month. Executive and Corporate coaching programs are more, often running $1,000 to $10,000 per month.

Coaching can ease transitions. Clients aiming to make significant changes in their lives find they can make smoother easier transitions with the support of a coach. As a result of coaching, clients often find it easier to define what they want, identify and eliminate obstacles and to stay on track. Some people find transition more difficult than others. Each person who feels confused, overwhelmed, or even excited about the transitions they are facing can benefit. Just think of the athlete who makes it to the Olympic level. They have a coach - even though they have achieved great successes in their sport in order to get to this level, that doesn't mean they no longer need support and coaching.
