Recipe Exchange Share your recipes. Many people are
looking for easy, heart healthy recipes. This website is for our
readers enjoyment and well-being.
Share recipes that are healthy. Please do not share recipes laden with high cholesterol, high fat, high calorie ingredients. The goal of this recipe exchange is to meet the needs of the readers. If you have a recipe that is low fat, healthy, easy, ideal for two people, or otherwise suited to the boomer and senior demographic, we encourage you to add it to our recipe exchange.
The easiest way to create the recipe exchange was to run it through the same software as is used for our Directory Listings. The limitations of doing it this way, is that the Directory Listings offer a FREE 30 day listing and we want the recipes to last longer than 30 days. So, if you submit a recipe, place it as if it were a 30 day free ad and we will go into the database and extend the date so the recipe will stay up indefinitely -- unless a recipe gets negative feedback, in which case we will remove it.
When placing your recipe, it will ask for a website address. This is not a mandatory field and does not need to be filled in. While it is necessary to supply your name, address and contact information while registering to contribute your recipe (signing up for an classified advertising account) it is not necessary to provide a contact person, address or phone number in your recipe contribution. In fact we recommend that you do not. Instead of "Contact" typing in "contributed by ...and your first name... is a better option. The system will ask for your postal code also. You may also type "unknown" or "n/a" when contributing a recipe. These are suggestions to maintain your privacy. Seeing as the advertising data base is most often listing businesses, it is necessary that these fields be available for business-to-business or business-to-consumer advertisers.
Running the recipes in the Directory Listing software also allows people to vote on your recipe. Please vote on recipes you use, so that others can know which recipes are well liked. When searching for a recipe, do not sort by location. Search by category only. Otherwise there will be recipes that you miss.
The first step is to register for an account. Once you provide your email address you will be sent a confirmation to your email address. This will take you to the next step, which is filling in a form with more information about you, such as your name, phone number etc. We do not share this information. The information you fill in when you are contributing the recipe is PUBLIC. The public is going to see everything you put in with your recipe. DO NOT ADD CONFIDENTIAL information such as your name, phone number and email address!
If you do know the caloric content, or fat content of the recipe you are sharing - it is helpful to provide it. We request that you do NOT violate anyone's copyright when you contribute recipes...and for this reason it is likely that many of the recipes will not provide this information, we are interested in YOUR personal creations.
Sharing recipes is fun and we hope by offering this on this website it will add to the enjoyment our readers get out of coming back to this website again and again.
The purpose of the Recipe Exchange is to share recipes that meet the needs of boomers and seniors. It may be that you have a great recipe that is just for one or two people, or that is a great Make Ahead recipe. Maybe you have a recipe that will help other people who have dietary restrictions.
Remember not to publish copyrighted recipes!
The recipes need to be family heirlooms, personal creations, or your calorie, or fat reduced version of another recipe. It needs to be uniquely your own.
Think heart health.
Do you have a great recipe that is low in fat, high in antioxidants, or in some other way of value to the health and well-being of other boomers and seniors.
This recipe exchange is a great place to share cooking ideas. Many people find it difficult to cook well balanced meals when cooking for one or two people. Therefore, it is a very good idea to encourage good eating habits in every way we can.
Some people need a recipe, others are able to take an idea and create from scratch. For those who are creative it is a challenge to write a recipe in a way that others can follow it. Remember to use enough detail to make it turn out for the person who is more intent on following the details.
Make it fun.
Most people want to see a photo. Take one and add it!
It will make a big difference -- the recipes without photos cannot be featured and will get far fewer hits.
In fact at some point and time, we may need to reject recipes without photos, as the number of recipes with photos increases.
